Governor Phil Scott has signed a proclamation designating October 8-14, 2017 Fire Prevention Week in Vermont.
"Vermont is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all those who live in and visit our state," said Gov. Scott. "We all play a role in fire safety, and this week is about increasing awareness across Vermont so we all understand how we can help prevent fires."
For more information about Fire Prevention Week activities in your community, contact your local fire department. To learn more about this year's Fire Prevention Week campaign, "Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out," and home escape planning, visit firepreventionweek.org. For additional safety information you can visit the Division of Fire Safety's webpage at www.firesafety.vermont.gov.
"I want to thank the Division of Fire Safety for its commitment to keeping Vermonters safe and its work to lead this initiative, educating Vermonters on how to prevent fire hazards," added Gov. Scott. "I also thank all our first responders who work to protect us, our homes, businesses and infrastructure."
